Coach Billy’s Summer 2010 Update 07/07/10

The 2010 Hawks began their summer training on Monday June 21st.  Roughly 80 players were in attendance.  We were able to get two very good weeks of training in before taking a break for the 4th of July and as well the MHSAA mandated dead period.  There has been great leadership from the seniors and juniors.  Their work ethic and attendance has been exemplary.

On June 25th the Varsity traveled to Wayne State University to compete in a 7 on 7 tournament.  At the end of the day the 2010 Hawks left with the winner’s trophy having vanquished Lapeer East, Warren Cousino, Detroit Cass Tech, U-D Jesuit and Oak Park (our Game 6 opponent) in the finals.

We resume our summer program on Monday July 12th at 1.00 P.M. at Harrison.  We will also be running Sorrows (sled hill near Board of Education) Hill at 6.30.  We are still in great need of parent participation/food donations in order for the BBQ-Picnic that takes place afterwards.

Please see this flyer and call Coach Billy Slobin at (248)-569-7283 or email at wbslobin@lowrateonline.com to let us know what you will be bringing

The 2010 Hawks traveled to South Lyon on Saturday ……….The team played 5 challengers in an all day 7 on 7 camp.  The Hawks continued their excellence handily dispatching each opponent.  In the morning we faced Redford Union, Northville High School and Warren DeLasalle.  After a nice lunch break where the boys all displayed great camaraderie and considerate behavior…….the Hawks faced Stockbridge and Swartz Creek.  There was a tremendous display of discipline and teamwork throughout the day.  There was very nice parental support as well.

“Try to discover the road to success and you’ll seek but never find, but blaze your own path and the road to success will trail right behind”

HAWK PRIDE

The 2010 Harrison Hawk football team completed their summer training program last Wednesday the 28th.   It is a long standing tradition to finish the summer with a Sorrows Hill run, followed by heartfelt speeches from most of the Varsity players.  The players run up the hill 14 times symbolizing the amount of games played when a team reaches the State Finals game.

This summer has been a tremendous one for The Hawks.  From the workouts to the 7 on 7 outings the team has consistently come together, worked hard, and been a source of pride for the coaching staff.  The boys have persevered despite having no electricity in the weight room most of the summer.  The Hawks summer training camp was so well attended that an unprecedented 14 players had perfect attendance and many others only missed a small amount.  The following VARSITY Hawks did not miss a session……Evan Patton, Steve Slobin, Kris Malaj, Derek Head, Trey Rimmer, Lido Zefi, Damon Perkins, Chandler Bonner-Wilson, Anderew Sekely, Tegan Peterson, Mason Storay, Eddie Huckleby, Jake Slobin, and G. Coleman.  THAT’S HAWK PRIDE and commitment.

The camp was greatly enhanced by the alumni participation both from a coaching and training aspect.  The 2010 Hawks were assisted by the following alums……..Marcus Mencotti, Daniel Ayorinde, Corey Davis, Cha Che Pickett, Donnell Davis, Chris Roberson and Drew Stanton.  Coach Phil Sacha was a pillar and ran the JV/FROSH program single handedly!  Coach Steve Gallero and Jeremy Rowe were also very integral to the summer program.  A big thank you for all of your contributions!!!!!

Never forget the 3 keys to success…….

Attendance

Attitude

Effort

From Coach Billy-Even though we are 3 months into the season, our kids continue to attack the weights and procedurally lift weights every Tuesday evening.  The kids’ enthusiasm for their weight training is a testament to how badly they want to keep playing.  I am so proud of their tremendous effort and their businesslike approach even though they have been at school since 7:30am.
KEEP CHIPPING-THE STONE WILL BREAK!!!
Cick here for last 2010 letter From Coach Billy!!!!!
